FlyFreely & LAANC

MS Blog Images (5)

FlyFreely is an FAA-approved UAS Service Supplier (USS) of the Low Altitude Authorization and Notification Capability (LAANC). FlyFreely provides airspace authorizations to Part 107 pilots only. LAANC is only available in the United States.

What Is LAANC

LAANC is a collaboration between the FAA and private industry, like FlyFreely, to safely integrate small drones into the national airspace system. FlyFreely provides remote pilots with airspace awareness and the opportunity to receive authorizations to fly in controlled airspace (under 400 feet) through the FlyFreely Office App on any web browser.

How and when can drone pilots use LAANC?

  • Drone pilots planning to fly under 400 feet in controlled airspace must receive an airspace authorization from the FAA before they fly.
  • LAANC automates the application and approval process for airspace authorizations and is available to pilots operating under the Small UAS Rule Part 107
  • To qualify under Part 107, you must register your drone and hold a Remote Pilot Certificate.

FAQs:

  • LAANC is a capability, not an application, that is accessed via the FlyFreely Office App.
  • LAANC is available for all FlyFreely users on all plans (both free and paid accounts).
